IFBCON Recap Day 1

About a month ago, I decided that I wanted to start a fashion blog to serve as a creative outlet for myself.  One of the first things I did was to join a fashion blogging community called IFB to learn how to get started.  I noticed that they had a conference coming up in September (IFBCON) so thought I’d sign up.  I had no idea that is was going to be such an amazing experience!

My goals for the conference weren’t just to learn how to be a better blogger, but also to meet others and make new friends.  I was really excited about becoming part of a community and meeting others with similar interests.  With that in mind, my conference experience really started the night before at dinner with several other bloggers – Laura of Laura Lily, Aminta of Clothes & Fashion, and Stella of J’adore-Fashion.  Since Aminta was from New York, she took us to one of her favorite restaurants, Scarlatto. I had a wonderful pumpkin ravioli and we all shared a great bottle of wine.

Then it was off to Times Square for an impromptu fashion shoot.  Below is Aminta grabbing a picture of Laura.

All-in-all it was a great night, and it was nice to have friends to sit with at the conference. I regret that I did not get a photo of Stella, but you can see her choices on her blog J’adore-Fashion.

The next day started with a 30 minute wait outside.  This actually worked out well as it gave me an opportunity to meet some of the other lovely ladies at the conference.  I was thrilled to be able to meet Katie Petix, one of the voices of Blog-Trends and editor of Today I Want.  She actually has the only picture (that I know of) of my outfit from day 1.

I was also very suprised to meet another blogger from Milwaukee who was right behind me.  Bree of Bree Rose Design is actually a designer as well as a blogger.

I did not get nearly enough pictures!  Part of my transition of fashion participant to fashion blogger is to remember to document what is happening with my camera so I can provide a better experience for all of you.  I did, however, get a couple of good shots.

Below is Niani of The Fierce Fantasy.

Next is Laura of Laura Lily

Laura’s Valentino shoes were a huge hit at the conference.  Gorgeous!

Aminta of Clothes & Fashion is below.  She had some great statement necklaces!

Caitlin – Marketing and Business Manager of Snapette, a great new app for sharing and navigating boutiques and brands.  I’m starting to play with it so look for a review post in the future.
