If you were following along in January, you heard me talk about a new feature I was trying on the blog called Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday(FBFF). My theme for January was New Year, New You and I dived into talking about a new strategy for myself this year. That strategy was to relax – review – renew – repeat.
It’s time to finish up that set of posts with a review. It’s sometimes painful to look back and take a real look at my work, but I try to remember that it’s important for growth. Most of us aren’t automatically brilliant at every new thing we try, so the process of trying something new and learning from it is essential to moving forward. In our ever changing world it’s more important to get started and try something than to worry about it being perfect the first time.
So with that being said my area for review was the type of posts I’ve been doing lately. My goal is to get out two new posts a week covering areas such as style, Milwaukee fashion, and shopping/fashion technology. FBFF was supposed to be an extra third post I was going to try and fit in to give you a little insight into my life and connect with some other bloggers.
I fully acknowledge that January has been a sporadic month for posting in general and the FBFF feature was only posted once on a Friday. I also didn’t get a chance to do a single fashion technology post. On the plus side, there was some great Milwaukee Fashion to cover and I added a category for product reviews to reflect some of the items brands have been giving me to test drive.
So the next part of my strategy is to renew. What have I learned and how do I want to continue going forward?
I’m going to discontinue the FBFF posts for now. You can still follow along by checking out ModlyChic.com every Friday to see what the other bloggers are up to. If I get more consistent, I’ll look to add them back on later. My focus is going to be renewed on getting some technology posts out and more fashion and style. I finally invested in great new camera so picture quality should improve as well.
Part of this process is understanding what you, my reader would like to see more of. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you’ve liked on the blog and want me to spend more time on as well. I’d love to hear from you in the comments below or feel free to drop suggestions on my Barely Practical Facebook page or Twitter.

The posts that I’m most fond of are the ones in which you highlight new goodies that you’ve received like the post about the Wantable accessory box! It would be cool to see posts about your favorite editorials, new designers that you’ve discovered or just collections that you’re in love with this season and why. Maybe even a couple of DIY posts? Other than that I like the direction that you’re heading in and I can’t wait to see what you show us all next!

Thanks for your feedback! I do have some designers that I’ve been wanting to feature.
I am a new reader so I am not sure what I want to see more of. I personally love discovering new technology and new brands. I am a big fan of natural and organic so I’d love to find some new brands or affordable natural alternatives to some of the main stream cosmetics and lotions.
Best of luck and I look forward to reading more!
Thanks for the feedback Kaitlyn! I hope to get more technology posts out there and will keep my ear out for some of the other things you’ve mentioned.
Oh no! I just found out about your blog, and now you’re discontinuing the part where we get to be friends??!
haha. In all seriousness, though, it’s so cool that you put so much thought into your content. I’m so excited to find another Wisconsin blogger that I can’t even handle it. It seems like you find a lot of really cool stuff to cover in MKE, but I feel like I really struggle with new and engaging content (which is why I just resorted to selifes).
I’m obsessed with meeting other fashion/lifestyle bloggers, though. So if you’re ever in the Madison area I’d totally love to get coffee or go shopping!
You have a new reader
-Gabrielle
Hi Gabrielle
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll definitely look you up if I’m heading over to Madison
Ha! I echo Gabrielle! I finally clicked on your link over on the FBFF facebook page. How about once a month FBFF posting?
And now, new blogger friend, I will peruse more of your posts…
Hi Anne
Hopefully later this year I can start doing at least once a month. Thanks for stopping by!
Great! I will keep my eyes peeled!
I got only 2 “fitness” theme posts done for Feb (one still in draft).
Guess I’m not very “fit”. HAHA.
