I had the privilege of being a guest blogger at the Art Institute’s first fashion show, The Haute List, this past weekend at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The show was a combination of efforts from the students in the fashion marketing and the fashion design programs. The school itself is fairly new – having opened its doors in 2010 – and it only introduced the fashion design program in 2012. In 2013, a new course on in-house promotions was launched and one of their projects was to put together a fashion production. The result was the show I attended.
I have to say that I was impressed with the logistics of the show, especially since it was their first. The venue was beautiful, drinks and fresh fruit and cheese were available for guests before the show, and there was plenty of space for people to socialize. The event was sold out, but not overcrowded. There was even a space for people to get their picture taken.
Considering there were only 3 months to put the show together, it was impressive in size. The program contained 7 pages of looks organized by category and highlighted students who won awards for their contributions. Some of my personal favorites are shown below.
