I had the opportunity to attend the Haute List fashion show last weekend at the beautiful Milwaukee Art Museum. It was the perfect setting for an outfit shot so I took advantage before the show started.
When picking my outfit for the show, I wanted something modern, but still with a bit of whimsy. I had recently fallen in love with a pair of pants at H&M and found a lace tunic which really picked up the needlework-like design on the pants. Multiple patterns can be a bit risky when putting together an outfit and when doing so I try to look for complimenting patterns or contrasting colors.
To balance off the black and white, I opted to accent with red. Some suede ankle strap sandals from Nine West, along with a red lip, and a black and red bag from Lela Boutique helped to pop out the color. I looked for red earrings, but couldn’t find what I was wanting so opted with black oval drop earrings that I found at Macy’s.
Red lipstick can be a bit intimidating and the important thing to remember is to find a shade that works with your skin tone. I have a lot of red undertones in my skin so I need a red that has a blue base versus orange so I don’t look clownish.
I got this last shot with blogger Fanny M from Lafreecaine who also has great shoes!
