If you’ve been watching the Barely Practical Facebook page, you’ll know that I’m really into floral right now. I think it’s because it’s finally starting to warm up and some of my plants are starting to bud.
I’m not always good about consciously picking up casual clothes. Even when shopping for florals, I instinctively go for pieces such as the ones on my spring florals post. However, I do appreciate something easy and comfortable and wanted to expand my casual pieces without resorting to jeans and t-shirts.
On a recent shopping trip I picked up a couple of pieces from H&M including some floral pants and a soft speckled pink sweater. I especially liked the spring sweater as the back was a semi-sheer fabric that kept the outfit from being too basic.
Since I’m only 5’1, pants can be a problem for me. These weren’t too bad, but I opted to roll them up anyway to show off my shoes. A cropped look is a great way to feel like it’s getting warmer and can be flattering too. Just make sure the bottom isn’t wider than the top (always say no to wide leg crop pants) and they don’t fall in the middle of your calf.
The final touches were accessories and shoes. I chose a chunky Nine West platform that gave me some extra height but kept the overall look casual. For jewelry I wanted something a little more modern so the outfit wasn’t too girly. My Prabal Gurung for Target bracelet and a ring from my jewelry box finished things off.
