Jurassic Fashion
Several weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend Timothy Westbrook’s Paleontology of a Woman show. I needed the perfect outfit, but what does one wear to a dinosaur themed fashion show that fits the spirit, but doesn’t look like a costume?
I decided to go with a snakeskin dress as a base. I ended up with the Jennifer Lopez for Kohl’s dress below which nicely hugged my curves. One of the struggles I always have is that fitted or bodycon dresses tend to be made with a cotton spandex blend which seems to cling to my body in very unflattering ways. This stretch jersey dress flowed nicely to create a fitted silhouette without appearing tight.
I opted to accessorize the dress with earth elements. A bone inspired resin necklace, BCBG snakeskin textured sandals with wooden heels, and a leather and metal cuff from Express all fit the bill. The final touch was one of my Wantable rings that reminded me of a rocky hillside. I thought it all worked well in the backdrop of the Milwaukee Public Museum’s rainforest and glacier exhibits.
